Hyderabad: The commissioner’s task force south zone team and the Chatrinaka police arrested two people for illegally possessing firearms. Police recovered a country made pistol and two live rounds from them.

Officials said the suspects, N. Srinivas, 34, from Devender Nagar Colony, Pahadi Shareef and his friend K. Ravi Kiran Goud, 29, from Chatrinaka were planning to sell the weapon. The duo were waiting for their customer at Kohinoor Bar in Chatrinaka when the police arrested them

The duo admitted they smuggled the firearm from Bihar to sell it in the city. “About two years back, Srinivas met a Bihari named Rakesh, who was working as a waiter at the bar. They used to discuss about the country weapons available in Bihar. Srinivas asked Rakesh to bring a gun for him. Six months back Rakesh brought a pistol for Rs 5,000 from Bihar,” said a police official.

Srinivas and Ravi Kiran planned to sell it in Hyderabad. On Saturday, one customer was about to buy the weapon, but the police reached the spot and arrested them. Police is searching for Rakesh.
