Mother of Two Slams Shamirpet Police, Fears for Life From Husband

Hyderabad: A 43-year-old mother of two children, who is allegedly being harassed by her husband and in-laws, accused the Shamirpet police of inaction on her complaint even a month after an FIR was registered in the matter.

“Police registered an FIR on December 10 and there is no progress in the case. My children and I live in fear of my husband, his family and their associates, who claim to have strong political connections and harass us,” she told Deccan Chronicle.

Her husband works in a private firm in Andhra Pradesh and has been influencing the police through his political connections, she alleged.

The woman said that unable to bear the harassment, she had moved the court seeking divorce and custody of her son and daughter. But her husband and his family members had repeatedly tried to kidnap the minor children, she said.

She alleged that she had been going to police stations but all had cited jurisdiction restrictions. The police refused to accept her complaints and act on them despite submitting evidence related to all incidents of harassment and attempts to attack them, she said.

“I went to the ACP and the CP, but nothing has happened and we continue to live in fear and are being harassed every single day. I am wondering if the police will act only after we three are killed,” she said,

She also alleged that her husband had threatened to morph and circulate their picture on social media.

Asked about the matter, Shamirpet station house officer M. Niranjan Reddy, denying allegations, said that the case is under investigation. “We have asked the complainant to submit evidence but she has not turned up,” he added.
