Decapitated body of a man found at Vanasthalipuram

The body was found under bricks on the 2nd floor of an under-construction building. The severed head was found at Chintapalli in Nalgonda

Hyderabad: The police at Vanasthalipuram found the headless body of a man on Thursday, three days after a decapitated head was found at a place of worship some 75km away in Telangana's Nalgonda district -- on January 10.

Inspector Satyanarayana said the clues team inspecting the crime scene has confirmed that the body and head were of the same person. ACP Purushottam said the Nalgonda Police will be handling the case.

The body was found under bricks on the second floor of an under-construction building. The severed head was found at Chintapalli area of Nalgonda.

A team investigating the case identified the deceased as Ramavath Jaihind, 30, a vagabond hailing from Suryapet who resided in Vanasthalipuram area. "Later, the body was found during questioning of some persons,” the official said.

The decapitated head was first found by the temple priest. He noticed the head lying at the feet of a Mahankali idol at the temple and called the Chintapalli police.

As many as eight special teams were formed to identify the victim. Later, a family from Nalgonda identified the dead as their kin. The temple is located close to the highway connecting Hyderabad to Nagarjuna Sagar.

Though some locals believe this was a human sacrifice, police suspect the person was murdered elsewhere and the head placed at the feet of the goddess’ feet to mislead the cops.
