University of Hyderabad student sodomises college mate

Hyderabad: A first-year MBA student from University of Hyderabad was arrested by Gachibowli police on Thursday for allegedly sodomising another male student of the university. The suspect Mohammed Rinish, 27, hailing from Kerala, was produced before the court and sent to remand, Gachibowli police said.

According to the police, the victim, 19, also a student of the University of Hyderabad hailing from Jharkhand, studies IMA (Integrated Master of Arts) Sociology course in the university. 

On Sunday night around 11.30 while he was in his room in the men’s hostel-I on the campus, Ranish suddenly entered the room and locked the door from inside. Even before the victim could react, Ranish forced himself on the victim and sodomised him.

Based on a complaint filed by the victim, police registered a case under Section 377 of IPC (unnatural offences). Gachibowli inspector M. Gangadhar said “It was found that both were friends for a long time. We are collecting more information based on which the investigation will proceed.”
