We will arrest BJP MP, MLA soon: Dr G Parameshwar
Mangaluru: Home minister Dr G Parameshwar said police officers are searching for BJP MLA Raju Kage as well as Uttara Kannada MP Anant Kumar Hegde, and both will be arrested soon. “We will not spare them. We will take action against anybody against whom a FIR has been registered, and who are facing charges,” he told the media during his visit to Mangaluru on Thursday.
He agreed that the process of arrest was taking time as the MLA and his associates are absconding.
Asked about the possibility of some elements attempting to trigger communal tension in the region in the runup to Assembly elections next year, Dr Parameshwar said the department would take necessary action. “The department is prepared for it,” he added.
Sharing details about the new GPS monitored patrolling vehicles inaugurated in Mangaluru, the minister said that such vehicles would be sanctioned to all corporation limits in commissionerates. “The new patrolling vehicle is GPS based. The movement of vehicles can be monitored in the control room. In case of any law and order problem or any other emergency, the nearest vehicle will be contacted by the control room and asked to rush to the spot without any jurisdiction issues,” he added.
He said along with security of local residents, stress would be on ensuring extra security to artists, writers and politicians in respective jurisdictions of police officers. “We need to be more effective with our beat system. It is the duty of the beat officer to know the goings-on in his area. Also we need to take extra care if some writer is facing threat. Such houses need to be identified and movements near the house must be monitored closely. We need to take extra care if any particular writer is facing threat,” he added while citing the example of murder of litterateur Dr M M Kalburgi.
He said if precautions were taken, the murder would not have occurred, but none knew about the threat to Dr Kalburgi.
