Hyderabad: Five held for stealing and selling BSNL batteries

The scrap dealers who purchased the stolen parts were identified as Bhairi Ravinder, 35, and Mangala Rao Mallaiah.

Hyderabad: The Punjagutta police have arrested five persons who were selling batteries to scrap dealers after stealing them from a BSNL tower. The officials recovered two batteries of 12V 42 AH and six batteries of 2V 300 AH capacities from their possession. Among the arrested, three are working as internet technicians. They targeted the BSNL tower at Methodist Colony and took away the batteries and sold them to scrap dealers.

The arrested were identified as Majji Venkatesh alias Venkat, 22, cable TV technician, Vaddeboina Naresh, 24, Tata internet technician, and Nalamasa Sagar, 26, cable worker for Airtel. The scrap dealers who purchased the stolen parts were identified as Bhairi Ravinder, 35, and Mangala Rao Mallaiah. “The trio and their associates, who are technicians, hatched a plan to commit the theft. They had easy access as they were technicians,” said the police.
