Hyderabad: The Rachakonda She teams detained 108 persons for harassing women, DCP Usha Vishwanath said in a statement on Thursday. She said the personnel dressed in plain clothes carried out decoy operations for the safety of women.

Among the detained were 48 minors. They were counselled in the presence of family members at the Rachakonda police ommissionerate’s LB Nagar CP Camp office (women safety wing office.

Among the accused was a man who sent nude videos to his elder sister's tenant over a social media platform and demanded money. When she refused, he sent her morphed pictures to others. A decoy team arrested two persons for harassing school girl; the harassers were drunk at that time.


Man gets 12-day jail for throwing stones at police

IV Special Metropolitan Magistrate K. Lalitha of the Nampally courts sentenced a 25-year-old private company employee to 12 days in jail for throwing stones at the police and stopping police officers from taking action.

Bhavaninagar police said Mohammed Amer, a resident of Noorinagar, under the influence of ganja pelted stones at the police station. “There were two complaints pending against Amer,” Bhavaninagar sub-inspector V. Narender said. “When we tried to arrest him — he was influenced by ganja — he misbehaved with our constables.”

The police managed to subdue him and arrested him. On October 6 night, Amer had pelted stones at an SBI ATM kiosk in Bhavaninagar. Locals beat him up. He was also wanted for beating up his neighbour, Mohammed Abdullah, who insisted that he not consume ganja on the streets.


Two people held for chain snatching

Narsingi police on Thursday arrested two persons for snatching a 20-gram gold chain from a 63-year-old man last month. Police said the suspects, Syed Abbas and Tumkuti Vinayak Reddy, both 22, approached the victim on a motorcycle on September 25 and asked for water. When he was thus distracted, they snatched his chain and escaped. Police said the duo was previously wanted for burglary and cellphone thefts. The two-wheeler used in the robbery wsa also reported stolen.
