Vendhar Madhan approaches Principal Sessions Court to discharge him from case
Chennai: Vendhar Movies Madhan has approached the Principal Sessions Court to discharge him from a money laundering case registered by Enforcement Directorate.
In the petition, Madhan has submitted that ED foisted the case against him. He said that the prosecution alleged that he had received money to the tune of Rs 84.24 crore from various students, on the instruction from SRM management members and Indhiya Jananayaga Katchi (IJK) leader Pachamuthu for medical admission at SRM college, Katankalathur and Trichy under Management quota. After receiving the amount, he failed to give admission to the candidates.
Madhan said that he had been a representative of the college since 2007 for various admissions at SRM University. He was not aware of various students, who lodged complaints against him. Madhan alleged that he was used as a scapegoat by SRM Management and its head Pachamuthu.
During the period of enquiry, he was made to write a statement to the whims and fancies of the ED threatening his arrest as of to non-cooperation. The act was arbitrary and aimed to protect the co-accused Pachamuthu and all his statements were modified favouring Pachamuthu.
His arrest by ED was unwarranted as it was purely motivated to cater the need of the accused Pachamuthu. He had not committed any offence to attract sections 3 and 4 of PMLA Act and the case would not stand either on the merits or in law to proceed further.
Hence, he sought the court to discharge him from the case. When the matter came up for hearing before Principal Judge S. Subadevi on Wednesday, the principal judge posted the matter to October 30 for further hearing.
