TIRUPATI: As many as 17 rounds of 9 mm bullets were recovered from Nandi Pipes managing director Mohan Reddy at Tirupati airport on Wednesday.
Police said Mr Mohan Reddy, a resident of Nandyal, was caught carrying the bullets by the airport security when he was about to board the flight to Hyderabad. The Central Industrial Security Force, which oversees security at the airport, handed him over to Yerpedu police of Tirupati Urban limits.
Mr Mohan Reddy told the police that he was carrying the bullets by mistake. The police found out that his weapons licence had expired. He later submitted an application for renewal of the licence. Investigation is still on as even a licence holder is not permitted to carry firearms on a flight.
