Haryana: 35-year-old woman plotted to blow up ex-boyfriend to avenge heartbreak

She had assembled three bombs using firecracker powder, nails, glass and stones, with the help of her another ex-boyfriend.

Palwal: A 35-year-old woman in Haryana’s Palwal district had plotted to blow up her ex-boyfriend, a married man, into pieces to take revenge for leaving her and returning to his wife.

According to a report in The Indian Express, the woman, identified as Aarti, assembled three bombs using firecracker powder, nails, glass and stones, with the help of her another ex-boyfriend Pradeep.

She had planned to throw the bombs inside the house of her ex-boyfriend, Rakesh, and kill him.

However, their plan was foiled when police arrested them in connection with another murder, which they had allegedly committed earlier this month. During interrogation, they revealed that they had also plotted to murder Rakesh.

The duo assembled three bombs 15 days ago and hid it at her friend’s house, police said. The friend was not aware that there were explosives at her home.

“One of Pradeep’s friends had a licence to manufacture firecrackers. He spent a lot of time observing his friend put together firecrackers… and figured out how to assemble a bomb,” said Sub-Inspector Abbas Khan, in-charge of crime investigation agency, Hodal.

Police recovered the bombs, which were similar to grenade, and defused them.

Aarti and Rakesh had met in 2010 and stayed together for six years. Their relationship came to an end when Rakesh, a father of three, returned to his family after a distant relative, Babu Lal, helped him reconcile with his wife.

Earlier, Aarti had allegedly killed 65-year-old Lal by slitting his throat on October 3 as she held him responsible for her separation with Rakesh, police said.

They had attacked another man who was with Lal, but he survived and later told police about the murder. “During questioning, they revealed that they had murdered Babu Lal as Aarti blamed him for the end of her relationship. They offered both Dharam Pal and Babu Lal a drink laced with sleeping pills. After the two fell unconscious, they slit Lal’s throat and fled the spot,” PRO of Palwal Police Sher Singh said.

Police arrested Pradeep and Aarti from the house of latter’s sister in Kosi on Sunday.
