The burglars had gained entry into the commercial establishments by breaking the side walls and escaped with the booty.

Hyderabad: Six members of a gang from Bihar were arrested by the Rachakonda police for committing three burglaries including one at a jewellery store in the commissionerate limits.

The police recovered property worth Rs 11.49 lakh from the men and brought them to the city on transit warrant and produced them before a court on Wednesday.

Rachakonda police commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat said on Wednesday that three cases of burglary were reported at Jawaharnagar, Keesara, and Kushaiguda. The burglars had gained entry into the commercial establishments by breaking the side walls and escaped with the booty.

In the recent offence at Kushaiguda on September 4, the burglars had targeted Vinayaka jewellery store at AS Rao Nagar by making a hole in the wall.

The owner of the shop got a security alert on his mobile phone and immediately rushed to the store, where he found the burglars leaving the shop in an auto trolley. Around 11 tolas of gold was stolen from the shop, said the commissioner.

He said that special teams of Central Crime Station, IT Cell and Special Operations Team swung into action. CCTV cameras showed that the accused left for Bihar in a train from Secunderabad.

“The police teams caught a flight and with the help of local police CRPF and GRP, four persons were nabbed as soon as they got down from the train at Danapur railway station on August 5. They were produced before the Railway Court at Danapur and brought to the city on a transit warrant,” he said.

The accused were identified as Mohammed Shabaz (33), Mohammed Shahid (28), Mohammed Manzoor Alam (25) and Mohammed Kasim (23), members of the Araria gang of Bihar. On further investigation, the other two accused Altab Alam (20) and Mehendi Azeem (22) of Bihar were held at Kushaiguda on Wednesday morning, while another accused is still at large.

Based on their confessions, property worth Rs 11,48,160 including 11 tolas of gold, mobile phones, a camera, laptop, an auto and cigarettes were recovered from the accused who were produced before a court, said the commissioner.
