Mystery shrouds death of Malappuram man in Saudi

The death was confirmed by social workers after they traced the body to the hospital with the help of its staff.

Malappuram: Mystery shrouds the death of Ahmed Salim (37), a native of Vazhakkad in the district, in Saudi Arabia. He went missing on Thursday from his workplace in Riyadh and was found murdered later. Social workers in the kingdom said his body was in the mortuary of Shumaisi Hospital. His relatives were told that he was found his throat slit.

The death was confirmed by social workers after they traced the body to the hospital with the help of its staff. The official confirmation is yet to come. The Saudi police had registered a case of murder and launched an investigation.
They questioned several people who contacted him on the mobile before his death and 15 men including Keralites are in their custody.

His relatives in Saudi Arabia are not yet allowed to see the body due to legal procedures. Local media say the body was found lying on a roadside with severe injuries and bruises. Mr Salim was working in the kingdom for the past several years on multiple posts. Sources in Riyadh say they expect more leads in the probe soon.
