Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh High Court directed the police to file an affidavit with details of the man identified as Sriram alias Srinivas about his movement and efforts to trace him out.

A division bench, headed by Justices U. Durga Prasad and B.V.L.N Chakravarthi, heard a habeas corpus petition here on Friday, filed by Surekha alleging that her husband Sriram was taken away by the Jaggampeta police and was being beaten up.

Petitioner’s counsel Jada Sravan Kumar argued that Sriram was in the custody of the police as alleged by his wife.

Government’s pleader (home) presented CCTV footage collected by the police showing that Sriram was moving about outside and was not in the custody of the police. An FIR copy of a case related to man missing was also presented to the court.

However, petitioner's counsel argued that the CCTV footage was not having any details of the date and timing and could not be trusted.

The court directed the police to file an affidavit with all details of his movement and efforts to trace him.
