Hyderabad: Police quizzes student for Ganja source
Hyderabad: A 20-year-old student from Alwal was reportedly caught by the police on Sunday with 80 grams of ganja at Suryanagar in Alwal.
The police seized the ganja and a motorcycle from the accused, Kunchala Siva Pradeep, 20, a graduate student, and produced before a court.
Acting on a tip-off, the police apprehended Pradeep who was waiting for customers to sell the ganja. The contraband was packed in four packets of 20 grams each.
Pradeep was taken into custody and booked in a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, a police officer said.
Further investigation will be carried out to find the sources from where the student was purchasing ganja and to whom he was selling it, said an Alwal police officer.
There has been a surge in cases of ganja smuggling especially from the Agency areas into Hyderabad. Students are often hired to sell the contraband to buyers.
Besides, traders in Dhoolpet who once used to deal with hooch had now taken to peddling ganja in the city, a police official said.
