HYDERABAD: A viral video alleged that police officials were taking bribes and letting off people caught in an inebriated state without any challans for drunk driving late Friday night. However, the video turned out to be fabricated. According to the traffic police, the particular police constable who was seen in the video allegedly sitting in the front passenger’s seat did not know how to drive the high-end car.

During the checks carried out late Friday night at Road No. 65 Jubilee Hills, the traffic police stopped the vehicle of a person named Venkatachala Prasad. According to officials, the reading showed 59 blood alcohol count (BAC) which was around 24 points higher than the legal limit of 35 BAC. They seized the vehicle and asked him to attend the counseling session at Traffic Training Institute Goshamahal or Begumpet.

Inspector of Traffic Police, Jubilee Hills, P. Balavanthaiah said, “Traffic constable Santosh did not know how to drive that high-end Mercedes-Benz car so he asked Venkatachala Prasad, who was the owner of the car to show him how to drive it. He showed the traffic constable how to drive it. Meanwhile, someone took the video and alleged that the traffic police were corrupt.”
