The trio has been arrested, and the police have recovered 35 tolas of gold, over one kg of silver, ten televisions, two bikes, two laptops, mobile phone and other goods from their possession. Vamshi convicted twice
R. Veera Vamshi Naidu has been convicted twice before. Though he comes from an affluent family, they distanced themselves from him due to his criminal activities.
Vamshi studied at a reputed school in the city, after which he went on to get a diploma in ITI from an institute in Old City. Both his parents work for private firms and his elder sister is a doctor.
From the time he was in school, Vamshi had a good command over English. It helped him get placed at a call centre which offered him a good salary. However, he was dissatisfied with his earnings as he wanted a more luxurious lifestyle.
At home, his spending was strictly regulated. This led him to begin committing thefts and burglaries. The frequency of his crimes increased, and he was eventually convicted.
Vamshi Naidu used to target independent houses which did not have CCTV cameras. He avoided houses and lanes that were under video surveillance. He used to spend the money he earned from thefts on luxuries and vacations in Goa.
His family upon learning of his illegal activities, distanced themselves from him. After that, he began roaming in the city. He used to often spend nights in the HMT Jungle on the outskirts.
