BJP wants CBI probe into Rajesh murder
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The BJP district leadership on Friday demanded a CBI probe into RSS leader Rajesh’s murder alleging laxity in the probe by local police. District president S Suresh said that several crucial angles of the case were being ignored in the probe. “One of the accused managed to get bail on the 5th day after the murder due to the nexus between the prosecution and police. The police had not even booked the suspects under the SC/ ST (prevention of atrocities) Act for 11days until the National SC ST Commission vice chairperson instructed it to do so,” said Mr Suresh.
The police had not filed this charge citing that the main suspects were also members of the scheduled caste. Around four days before the murder, Rajesh’s brother Rajeev who was also the BJP Area General Secretary was waylaid and warned that his brother would be killed and his hands would be cut, he alleged.
“No police officials visited the family or had taken their statement until 12 days after the murder. The first accused Manikuttan was saved from a few criminal cases by local CPM leaders. This was not being probed,” Suresh added.
He claimed that, mysteriously, certain CPM leaders in the area had abandoned their house in the area just ahead of the murder. “For 15 minutes after the murder, the suspects threw country bombs and created terror at the murder spot denying help to the victim. This was not being taken seriously by the probe team” he said. Rajesh’s father Sudarshan had given a letter demanding a CBI probe to the Chief Secretary and Home Secretary a day earlier.
