Bengaluru: An auto driver’s presence of mind saved a girl from the clutches of miscreants who had kidnapped her and allegedly tried to rape her. The information provided by the driver helped policemen in rescuing the girl within an hour and arrest two people.
Asgar Pasha is the man who played Good Samaritan. The Yashwanthpur police have arrested Fayaz alias Auto Fayu, 30, and Zubair Khan, 27, both residents of B.K. Nagar in Yashwanthpur.
According to the police, an 18-year-old girl and her cousin brother, who hail from Chitradurga, had come to the city on Thursday morning. They had come to visit their relatives staying near Hosur. As they had vacated the house they could not meet them and as their cousin’s phone was switched off, they could contact them nor find their new house. Then, they decided to return to their hometown and went to Yashwanthpur Railway Station in the evening.
“They were informed that the train to Chitradurga was in the midnight. However, as they did not have money, they decided to wait at the station till morning and then take financial help from others. Around 12 midnight, three people noticed and questioned them. After knowing their problem, they took them out of the station on the pretext of helping them. As they came out, two of the accused assaulted both the brother and sister while the third kidnapped the girl,” the police said.
Auto driver Asgar Pasha, who happened to be there immediately rushed to the help of the girl’s cousin after the accused persons left. He took him to Yashwanthpur police station and informed them about the incident.
ASI Rajanna and Home Guard Srinivas rushed to the spot and had alerted the DCP (Traffic-West) Shivakumar and Yashwanthpur police inspector, who were on night duty. The police searched for the miscreants at the surround areas near the railway station.
“After a thorough search, the girl was found at a godown belonging to a transport company around 200 metres away from the railway station. She was rescued and Fayaz was arrested. Zubair was later arrested in the morning. Efforts are on to nab the third accused,” the police said.
Investigations revealed that the miscreants were under the influence of alcohol and drugs. When Fayaz tried to rape the girl, she had pushed him and he fell down. As he was not completely in his senses, he could not get up, the police added. It is said that the accused are auto drivers and have been involved in robbery and theft cases.
