Hyderabad: Cabbie held for harassing girl, abusing her Facebook ID

Police said Pogula Raju, the cab driver, had befriended the 21-year-old woman and taken her Facebook credentials.

Hyderabad: The Rachakonda Cyber Crime Police on Tuesday arrested an Ola cab driver for harassing a nursing student.

Police said Pogula Raju, the cab driver, had befriended the 21-year-old woman and taken her Facebook credentials. But when they fell out with each other, he started sending abusive messages to her contacts from her account.

Raju, a resident of Kothapet, and the victim had gotten to know each other three years ago through a common friend. After they became close friends, she shared the credentials of her facebook account with Raju. Taking advantage of their friendship, he started misbehaving with her and forced her to go on long drives with him.

Unable to bear this harassment, she distanced herself from him and started avoiding him.

Seething with revenge, he accessed her Facebook account and started to post abusive content on her page and also sent vulgar messages to her contacts. Her friends believed that she had sent the abusive messages and questioned her behaviour.

It was then that the woman remembered that she had shared her Facebook credentials with Raju and he had access to her account. She lodged a complaint with Neredmet police and the case was transferred to Rachakonda cybercell.

Based on technical evidence, police traced the taxi driver and arrested him. Police also seized the mobile he had been using to access the girl’s Facebook account. He has been sent to judicial remand.
