Kochi: The State government on Monday approached the Kerala High Court seeking to cancel the bail granted to Gandhi Nagar police station ASI Biju and driver Ajayakumar in the Kevin abduction and murder case at Kottayam. The court sought details in the case after admitting the petition. The bail was granted by Ettumanoor first class judicial magistrate court in the case that the ASI and the driver received bribes from Shanu who allegedly plotted to kill Kevin.

Kevin was abducted following his love affair with Neenu, allegedly by a gang led by Neenu’s brother Shanu. The police party led by Biju was conducting a vehicle check when the gang led by Shanu was passing there after abducting Kevin. According to the case registered against them, though the duo detained Shanu and gang, later they were let off after accepting a bribe of Rs 2,000.  The issue became serious and controversial after Kevin was spotted in a murdered state. Neenu’s father is also an accused in the case.
