Hyderabad: Three held for borewell man's death
Hyderabad: The police arrested three persons on Saturday including the borewell machine owner and two others who were responsible for the death of borewell mechanic Rajashekar Reddy on May 26.
Police said Rajashekar had an accident, after being chased by his colleagues to the main road. Police checked CCTV footage and the case was altered to culpable homicide.
Police said Rajashekar Reddy was working as a mechanic on a borewell machine owned by Pradeep Kumar Reddy. As Rajashekar’s father was purchasing a borewell machine, he joined as a helper to learn its operation.
As Pradeep had purchased new machines, he held a party for all workers and they went to Andole Maisamma temple, offered puja and consumed alcohol.
While returning, they stopped at a dhaba at Pedda Amberpet for supper, and a fight took place. Rajashekar, Danaiah and Venkatesh beat up Rajashekar. Others intervened but Danaiah, Venkatesh and Pradeep chased him, and he ran towards the main road and had an accident.
“But Pradeep and the others told the workers to tell that he had accidentally fallen from the machine and had died while they were asleep,” inspector Narender Goud said.
However, the CCTV footages recovered from a borewell workshop nearby showed that there was a fight before the accident. Forensic doctors said the injuries appear to be accidental.
The three were nabbed by a special team on Saturday and produced before court. The stick used at the time of the attack was also seized.
