Hyderabad: In what appears to be a case of cold blooded murder, Royyala Saiprasad, 22, has been arrested for the stabbing death of Peerlagudem Shiresha at Pragati Resort in Shankarpally on Thursday night. Shiresha had more than 12 wounds on different parts of her body, possibly inflicted with a folding knife, leading to her death.
Saiprasad also received injuries as Shiresha tried to fight him off, and passed out from loss of blood. He gained consciousness when his sister called him to know his whereabouts, explained to her how he had killed his lover, and fled from the spot. Saiprasad’s sister alerted the staff at Pragati Resort, who found Shiresha in a pool of blood and alerted the police. Saiprasad was arrested near Balaji temple on Friday, based on evidence from the scene of crime and inputs from resort staff, Shamshabad DCP P.V. Padmaja said.
Shiresha and Saiprasad, both from Kothur, became friends as Intermediate students and began dating.
Having completed her degree course, Shiresha was preparing for banking entrance exams and attending a private coaching institute in Dilsukhnagar. Every day, she left for the institute at 10.30 a.m. and was supposed to return by 5.30 p.m.
Meanwhile, after her family came to know about Saiprasad, Shiresha began avoiding him, though they sometimes met in secret. On Thursday, he proposed they meet to sort out their problems. Having met at Shamshabad, they travelled to Mehdipatnam, from where they took a bus or cab to Pragati Resort.
At the resort, during their discussion about marriage, Saiprasad allegedly grew angry and stabbed Shiresha with a folding knife.
