Cuddalore: In a gruesome incident, a 17-year-old ITI dropout was decapitated and his head thrown into the premises of the Reddicahavi police station on Wednesday night.
The police identified the deceased as V.Swethan of Bahour in Puducherry. The victim was a member of a budding criminal gang and he was beheaded in the Bahour lakebed by his associates who suspected him of giving out details of their plans to a rival gang.
After going through the CCTV footage of cameras near the police station, the police arrested three men identified as Vinod Kumar (26), Das (22) and Sarma (20) on Thursday. “Interrogation revealed that the youth was hacked and then beheaded by one of the accused at Bahour in Puducherry, 13 km from here, on Wednesday night due to previous enmity”, police said.
After decapitating him, the suspects travelled on a two-wheeler with the head wrapped in a gunny bag before throwing it into the premises of the Reddichavavadi police station on Thursday night.
The police managed to track them down after going through the CCTV footage. The decapitated body was found near the Bahour lake, police said.
