Parked car moves, mows down woman in Hyderabad

Police has arrested the staffer and booked a case under IPC section 304 A (causing death due to negligence).

Hyderabad: A car parked in front of a second-hand car dealers shop rolled after the hand-brake failed failure and ran over a woman, killing her, at Srinagar colony in Jubilee Hills on Wednesday.

Nobody was inside the car when the mishap occurred. Police have booked a case against a worker at the dealer’s shop for gross negligence. The incident occurred at around 10.30 am at Nani Car dealers. The victim, D. Ambika, a human resources (HR) professional at a software firm in Banjara Hills, was walking to her office from her hostel.

“The road slopes there and the car was parked in front of the shop with the hand-brakes on. The worker, Mr Praveen, had got out from the vehicle a few minutes before the mishap. The car suddenly started rolling and hit the victim from the back. She fell down and hit her head against another stationary car on the road. She sustained serious head injuries and succumbed in a few minutes,” said Banjara Hills police inspector K. Srinivas

Cops said the car was given to the shop by the owner, who wanted to sell it off, a few hours ago and it was parked on the roadside. “We are checking how the brake failed. It looks like the brake was not properly applied by the staffer. We need to verify those facts,” said the Inspector.

Ambika, hailing from Maharashtra, had been living in Hyderabad since some few years and was working for the private company. Police officials said that she usually walked to her office since her hostel and office were located close by.
Ambika’s parents live in Srisailam.

Police has arrested the staffer and booked a case under IPC section 304 A (causing death due to negligence). The case is being investigated.
