ANANTAPUR: A home guard was beaten to death by a group of four youngsters at FCI godown on the outskirts of Nandyal district headquarters late on Sunday.
Police sources said Sekhar was working as home guard and deputed at FCI godowns for security. A group of four youths reportedly entered FCI premises for consuming alcohol and the home guard who was on duty questioned them. The gang reportedly attacked the home guard in a state of intoxication. Home guard Sekhar suffered a serious head injury after he was pushed and hit to the main gate and collapsed. The home guard died on the spot and the gang fled from the spot soon after the death of the home guard.
Nandyal police stations were alerted to nab the gang suspecting the local youths from district headquarters were involved in the crime.
The police sources said the teams launched a hunt to nab the gang who killed the home guard on duty. Nandyal SP and other staff expressed concern to the family of the home guard and assured justice for the family. The police were sounded alert against illicit activities including consuming alcohol in open places.
