Nigerian held for selling cocaine in city
Hyderbad: A Nigerian national was arrested on drug charges by the excise and enforcement team of Hyderabad on Thursday morning. The accused, Able Emmanuel Ummudu, 40, is said to be out bail in previous drug smuggling cases.
Ummudu was arrested on the spot while another accused, Etue Okafor Maluehi, a resident of Mumbai, is at large.
According to the police, Ummudu was nabbed during a route watch at Omega Hospital, Road No. 12, Banjara Hills, and 4 grams of cocaine along with Rs 20,000 cash were seized from him.
When questioned, Ummudu reportedly confessed he was selling cocaine on behalf of his employer whom he knew as Etue Okafor Maluehi.
Assistant excise superintendent, enforcement, N. Anji Reddy, said, “Umudu was involved in two drug smuggling cases earlier. He has married an Indian, Leela Shivakumar. Both of them and his cousin were arrested by Narsingi police while they were in possession of 80 grams of cocaine in March 2018. The second time, Ummudu was caught by the excise enfor-cement team with 3 grams of cocaine in August 2018. After being released from the jail on bail, he has continued peddling.”
The original case papers along with the contraband Ummudu was carrying was seized and handed over to the SHO, prohibition and excise station, Ameerpet.
