Bengaluru: Alcoholic husband slits wife's throat, stabs her to death

Alcoholic husband suspected woman's fidelity.

Bengaluru: Three, including a woman, were murdered in separate incidents in the city on Sunday night. In Kadugodi police limits, Geetha, 25, was murdered by her husband, who slit her throat and stabbed her to death in their house near Kadugodi Market. Geetha was married to Shankar around six years ago and the couple has three daughters. Both were working as housekeeping staff. Shankar was a habitual drinker and quarreled with his wife frequently, suspecting her fidelity. About 20 days ago, there was a fight between the couple and Geetha had deserted her husband and had moved to her parents’ house in Kadugodi along with their daughters.

“Around 12.30 pm on Sunday, Shankar went to his in-laws’ house and convinced Geetha that he would never fight with her again and brought her home along with one of the daughters. But the couple started fighting as soon as they reached home in the evening. The daughter started crying seeing her parents fight. Shankar took her to a hotel and got her fried rice. After returning, he made her sit outside. Again, he picked up a fight with his wife and slit her throat and stabbed her in the abdomen twice with a knife. Hearing her screams, the neighbours rushed her to a hospital, but she died within a few minutes,” the police said.

The Kadugodi police have arrested Shankar. In Byatarayanapura, Chetan alias Gundanna, 23, a resident of Mysuru Road, was stabbed to death by three criminals on M.M. Road around 9 pm. The police have arrested Kupparaju, Puneeth and Raju. Chetan was returning home on his bike when the three accused waylaid him and picked up a fight with him for no reason. The accused and the victim engaged in a heated argument, following which the accused stabbed him in his chest and abdomen and escaped.

“The local residents rushed him to a hospital, where he died. The accused have been nabbed and are being interrogated to know the reason behind the murder,” the police said. In Siddapura, Rehman (18), a resident of Arekempanahalli 2nd Cross who runs an automobile spare parts shop, was stabbed to death by his relative near his house. Rehman and Salman, 20, had gone out on Sunday night and consumed alcohol together. Before returning home, they were talking at Rehman’s house. But they ended up fighting over a trivial issue. Salman pulled out a knife and stabbed Rehman. Local residents tried rushing him to a hospital, but he died on the way. The police arrested Salman on Monday morning in Siddapura and are questioning him.
