Hyderabad: A 24-year-old girl who attempted suicide on Monday due to harassment by her jilted lover was rescued by her neighbours.
According to the police the victim, Y. Navaneetha, was in relationship with Bhasker Reddy. When she came to know that he was cheating on her, she broke up with him. Bhasker bore a grudge on her and used to harass Nava-neetha.
T. Ravinder Reddy, sub-inspector of police, said, “While Navaneetha was at home with her younger sister, Pooja on Sunday, Bhasker barged in at about 11 am and blackmailed her saying he would expose her photographs. Pooja informed the same to her father, Yerravalli Yadaiah, who had gone out to buy vegetables with his wife.”
When Yadaiah returned home, he came to know that Navaneetha had gone inside a room and had locked himself. His neighbours rescued her while she was hanging from the ceiling. Yadaiah then rushed her to a nearby hospital.
The victim’s father lodged a complaint with the Madannapet police, who in turn registered an abettment to suicide case against the man.
