BCA graduate turns chain snatcher, nabbed in Bengaluru
BENGALURU: A graduate of Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) Vinay son of late Puttaswamy and a resident of Mandya, turns into a chain snatcher before he was nabbed by J.P. Nagar police, Bengaluru and recovered gold chain of 43 grams worth about 2.15 lakh.
Police said Vinay, working as an Executive with Rapido, a bike taxi in Bengaluru, sustained financial loss after running a hotel. He sustained financial losses during the lockdown imposed during the Covid-19 pandemic and was under pressure to repay loans he had borrowed from various sources. In order to repay loans, Vinay took to chain snatching.
In his first act of chain snatching, a woman during a morning walk was deeply engaged in conversation on her mobile phone and the chain in her neck caught the attention of Vinay and he seized the opportunity and fled away with the chain, a couple of days back. This incident occurred in Shakambari Nagar near Sri Ram Temple under J.P. Nagar police station limits.
Police added that Vinay had pledged the gold chain he had snatched from the woman. Police tracked down Vinay and made the arrest. A two-wheeler has also been recovered from the arrested by the police. A case has been registered.
