Chennai: Dhashwant, accused in the murder and sexual assault of seven-year-old Hasini and a suspect in the murder of his own mother, threw yet another shocker when he reportedly told the police that he had planned to kill his father too.

The former techie also confessed to the murder of his mother, Sarala (43). On December 2, Dhashwant allegedly bludgeoned his mother Sarala to death at his home.  “After murdering Sarala with a hammer, he took a bath and watched TV, while waiting for Sekar’s return to kill him. But he changed his mind and escaped with his mother's jewels and cash. Dhashwant boarded a bus to Bengaluru and subsequently went to Mumbai from Bengaluru”, a police source said.

During police interrogation, Dhashwant reportedly said that he was more infuriated with his father than his mother. Though Sarala was lenient towards him, his father had told her to cut off his pocket money. “My father left early to work on that day. Had he remained at home, I would have killed him too”, Dhashwant told police.

Dhashwant had been upset with his parents as they repeatedly scolded him for molesting and murdering Hasini in February last, Dhashwant told police. He also confessed that he used to drink every day and would seek money from his parents. “Following his persistent demand for money, his father, Sekar, taking a stern view, refused to give him money. Nursing a grudge against this, Dhashwant hatched a plot to do away with both his parents”, a police officer said.

Dhashwant, who earned notoriety after the incident involving Hasini, got bail in September and since then has been staying with his parents in Kundrathur, here. His parents, who felt ashamed of his crime constantly rebuked him.

The 23-year-old Dhashwant, who was on the run since his mother's murder, fled to Mumbai with the help of David, who he had befriended in prison. Police traced and arrested Dhashwant on Wednesday. But he gave them the slip and escaped before he was arrested for the second time on Friday.

The Kundrathur police produced Dhaswanth before Sriperumbudur magistrate at his residence on Sunday and he was remanded to judicial custody.

He also informed the police that he was cheated of the 25 sovereigns of gold, which he had stolen from Sarala, by David’s friend Manikandan, Dhashwant had entrusted the stolen jewels with Manikandan who was supposed to sell them and give him the money.
