Police is also verifying whether the woman was part of any land related disputes.
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A 72-year old woman was hacked to death by unidentified assailant at her house at Alamcode near Attingal on Friday. The deceased, identified as Sharada of Alamcode, near Attingal, was working as a cleaner at a local temple. As per Kadakkavoor police, the woman has been staying alone since past several years. Her daughter and son-in-law were the only visitors at her house and used to stay separate Palakonam nearby. The neighbours has reported that they arrived here hearing a cry from the house at around 10.30pm.
The woman was found bleeding with several injuries on neck and hip caused by sharp weapon. She was taken to Chirayinkeezhu taluk hospital in an ambulance. She was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital. Kadakkavoor police have started a probe on few neighbours as some in the area said that she uttered the name of a security man in the area after being injured. Police has ruled out burglary as an intention for murder as valuables in the house including gold ornaments were found intact. Police is also verifying whether the woman was part of any land related disputes.
