Bike-borne chain snatcher keeps Hyderabad, Cyberabad cops on thier toes

HYDERABAD: The bike-borne snatcher moving around on a Blue Pulsar, wearing a helmet and a jacket, involved in at least two snatching offences in the city on Thursday, continues to keep the Hyderabad and Cyberabad cops on their toes. Prima facie it was found that the same snatcher was involved in the snatching offences at Panjagutta and snatching attempt at Mailardevpally on Thursday.

The offender involved in the snatching in Humayun nagar could also be the same person, but a different bike was used in the offence, giving a suspicion that a different person is involved, said police.

In three locations, the snatcher approached the victims from the rear, attacked them and sped away. He disappeared into the adjoining bylanes, making it difficult for the cops to track him. “CC cameras on the main roads before he struck, captured his movements, but his movement could not be tracked as he disappeared into the densely populated bylanes,” police said.

From the style of his operation, police found that he is a professional and old offender, specialised in chain snatching offences.

“ Teams are also working to check on the whereabouts of chain snatchers who were arrested in the past and are out of prison on bail and also matching the clues from the footage with that of the old cases, to get more clarity of the offender,” said a senior police official.
