Hyderabad: 4 business men steal hardware, held

Police said the gang committed the robbery after diverting the attention of sales personnel at the shop.

Hyderabad: Four persons from the Old City were arrested for stealing door fitting material worth Rs 40,000 from a hardware shop at LB Nagar. The police recovered the material that they stole from Ashok Hardware at LB Nagar on November 3.

Police said the gang committed the robbery after diverting the attention of sales personnel at the shop.

Police identified the arrested as siblings Mohd Yaseen and Mohd Moseen and their partners in their scrap business Syed Noor Hassain and Shaik Khaja. Moseen and Khaja went to the shop at about 1 pm on the pretext of purchasing door fitting material, picked up goods worth Rs 40,000 from the shop and loaded it in an autorickshaw.

After some time, Moseen left the shop and Khaja stayed on to pay the bill. Shop owner Keshavlal Patel went for lunch while his son Jitesh Patel got busy with other customers. Taking advantage of this, Khaja slowly slipped away. Jitesh’s efforts to catch Khaja went in vain as he was picked up by another person on a bike, said the police.

The accused persons were found to have been involved in three such offences. Their modus operandi included stealing the material by diverting the attention of shop owners and then selling the goods at other shops and spending the money on themselves.

Police said that the stolen property along with Rs 76,000 cash, an autorickshaw and two bikes were seized from them on Saturday.
