Sujatha Devi, who has to prepare the bill form and process for payment, demanded Rs 30,000 to do the work from the contractor, Peddaiah

Nellore: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths trapped a panchayat secretary, A. Sujatha Devi, working at Lakkavaram village in Thallur mandal of Praksam district while she was collecting Rs 30,000 bribe from a contractor at the panchayat office in Lakkavaram on Monday.

According to the ACB, the contractor identified as Garnapudi Peddaiah is a resident of Lakkavaram village. He had executed works of cement roads and drainage works worth about Rs 8 lakh apart from Rs 60,000 worth of works pertaining to a pipeline.

Sujatha Devi, who has to prepare the bill form and process for payment, demanded Rs 30,000 to do the work from Peddaiah.

Irked by the unreasonable demand, Peddaiah lodged a complaint with DSP, ACB, Ongole. The DSP and team laid a trap and caught Sujatha Devi red-handed soon after she collected the cash.
