Hyderabad: Woman arrested for train robbery
Police recovered 56 tolas of gold worth over Rs 18 lakh from the accused.

Hyderabad: The Secunderabad railway police has arrested a woman, who targeted female passengers in crowded trains and platforms and decamped gold ornaments and other valuables. The suspect is identified as Shaik Imam Bee.
According to the railway police, Imam Bee, 45, a housewife from Borabanda, was facing financial problems. To make quick money, she decided to commit thefts on running trains and passengers at Secunderabad railway station.
Her main target was overcrowded locations in the railway station, booking counters and escalators.
“She would pretend as a regular passenger and while passengers are busy in boarding trains or taking tickets, she would open the handbags and loot valuables,” said Mr S. Rajendra Prasad, superintendent incharge of the railway police, Secunderabad.
The police identified her and traced her at her home in Borabanda.
The police recovered 56 tolas of gold worth over Rs 18 lakh from her. Mr Rajendra Prasad said more CCTVs would be installed in the railway station to ensure safety of passengers.
