All the accused were brought to Hyderabad on transit warrant. Officials seized 24 mobile phones, five laptops and documents from them.

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad cyber crime police raided a fake call centre at Janakpuri, Delhi, and arrested three men along with 19 tele-callers who had cheated unemployed persons with fake promises of providing jobs. The tele-callers included 11 women.

All the accused were brought to Hyderabad on transit warrant. Officials seized 24 mobile phones, five laptops and documents from them.

The main accused were identified as Sumanth Bharadwaj, resident of Janakpuri West, Pradeep Gupta from Delhi and Sunil Rana from Haryana, police said.

The arrests were made following a complaint received from a student from Tilaknagar, Hyderabad on August 27. He stated that he had received a call from shinecareer.org.in on July 24 stating that his resume had been shortlisted for a job in Canada, said DCP, CCS, Avinash Mohanty.

“Two days later, he received another call asking him to pay Rs 13,003 for education verification. He was then asked to pay Rs 20,886 for a top management profile and in the end he was asked for his banking credentials, including OTP, CVV and card number after which they swindled Rs 1.18 lakh from his account,” Mr Mohanty said. He said the cheated amount could be more than Rs 34 lakh from one account, and other accounts needed to be verified.

The victims of the scam were located all over India, including Visakhapatnam, Chennai, Allahabad and Bhopal and it was presumed the gang had collected more than Rs 1 crore from victims.
