Bengaluru: Man chops wife's head, surrenders before cops

Satish, who ran a poultry shop at Sivani, reportedly told the police that he will not spare the paramour after his release from prison.

CHIKKAMAGALURU: The police were in for a shock on Sunday evening when a man walked into the station, carrying the severed head of his wife in a bag in one hand and a bloodied machete in another. The accused, Satish (35), who reached the Ajjampura police station around 6 pm carrying the severed head for over 20 km on his two-wheeler, told the police that he killed his wife, Roopa, around 4.30 pm as he caught her with her paramour red-handed in a coffee estate.

Satish and Roopa, who were from different castes at Sivani village in Ajjampura taluk of Chikkamagaluru, fell in love and got married despite opposition from their families years ago. They have a son and a daughter. But over time, their relationship soured and they quarrelled frequently. Elders from their families counselled them, but it did not help, Satish told the police.

When Satish saw Roopa and her paramour together on Sunday, he got into a rage and attacked them with the machete. He took a swipe at Roopa’s paramour, but he managed to escape. But Satish hacked at Roopa and then beheaded her.
