KARIMNAGAR: For loving a girl, a Muslim youth was beaten black and blue by the husband of a local public representative and relatives of the girl from the same community.
The incident took place in Thimmapur mandal of Karimnagar district. The youth is currently undergoing treatment in a hospital here and his parents have sought police protection.
Police said Md Azeez loved a girl from his own community. The girl’s father Khaleel got angry and lodged a complaint with the police at Thimmapur. “Azeez was summoned to the police station to give him a warning in front of the girl’s father, but he did not turn up,” police said.
Meanwhile, Khaleel took the issue to the notice of the MPP’s husband, Kethireddy Devander, who called Azeez to his house. When Azeez, his father Sadiq and mother Bismillah went to the MPP’s house, Devandar and some others pushed Azeez’s parents out of the gate and beat up the youth.
Devandar warned the family that they will be ex-communicated from the village if the youth continued with his love affair. He also warned that the family members would be killed and buried in the village burial ground, police said.
Unable to bear with the harassment, Azeez consumed pesticide and tried to commit suicide. His parents found the youth in an unconscious state and hospitalized him.
Azeez’s parents Sadiq and Bismallah said they lodged a complaint with city police commissioner Satyanarayana, urging him to protect their son facing a life threat from the local public representative and from the girl’s parents.
