Hyderabad: Realtor from Goa held for cheating
Hyderabad: The Cyberabad police on Thursday arrested a realtor hailing from Goa, for duping a city-based man by giving white paper bundles in exchange of $30,000 at Narsingi during last week of July. The police found that the accused was involved in a murder case at Goa and five cheating cases in Hyderabad and Pune.
Siddiqui alias Suleman Mohammed Khan (42) was arrested from Hydersha-kote village while he on his way to the city. Starting his career as a mason in Goa, Siddiqui became a realtor and purchased 24 properties in Goa. He also purchased houses in Pune, Bengaluru and Sanga-reddy. Recently, he cheated city-based forex trader Mohammed Jaffar, by giving white paper bundles covered with Rs 2,000 notes and fled with $30,000. He had also threatened to kill Jaffar on July 26. From CCTV footage, the accused’s car was identified and tracked on Thursday.
Cyberabad police commissioner V.C. Sajjanar said several illegal activities by Siddiqui have come to light after he was questioned. In 2009, suffering losses due to recession in real estate business, Siddiqui cheated a Pune based gangster on the pretext of selling a property, then the next year, he killed a 75-year-old woman in Goa by hiring assailants for not selling her land to him.
In 2012, he married a woman in Goa, but within two years, they got separated, but his daughter remained with him. “When the girl was 11 months old, she fell down and went into the coma. He admitted the girl at a private hospital in Bengaluru, and abandoned her as he could not pay the medical bills,” said the commissioner, adding that the efforts to trace the current status of the baby are on.
In 2015, he again got married to a woman from Karnataka and had a son and a daughter. He was arrested by Pune police at Goa in connection with a cheating case and spent 100 days in Yervada jail. He is still wanted in the murder case at Goa.
After releasing from jail, he illegally purchased a pistol in Pune and moved to Nagpur along with his second wife and two children. But, fearing threat from the gangster, he moved to Hyderabad and stayed at a rented house in Begumpet, police said.
