Hyderabad: Realtor, cops in blame game over ‘detention’

Based on complaints from victims, 15 cases were registered against him at various police stations.

Hyderabad: A realtor and a deputy commissioner of police (DCP) of the Task Force are embroiled in an ugly skirmish. The realtor has alleged that the DCP illegally detained him and that two other police officials demanded a bribe of Rs 10 lakh from him.

The Hyderabad police on the other hand, released a detailed list of alleged crimes booked against Gardas Ramesh, who is in the real estate business.

Ramesh alleged that Task Force DCP P. Radhakrishna Rao and North Zone Task Force inspector Nageswara Rao had kept him in illegal custody for about 18 days, blackmailed him, and booked a false case against him. He alleged that Bowenpally Inspector D. Rajesh had demanded Rs 10 lakh for not invoking the PD Act against him.

According to police, Ramesh is a habitual white collar offender who organised multi-level marketing in the guise of cryptocurrency/ bitcoin and cheated about 1,200 customers of nearly Rs 10 crore.

Based on complaints from victims, 15 cases were registered against him at various police stations. The Bowenpally police arrested and remanded him to judicial custody on August 24 last year.

Police said that to avoid police surveillance and arrest in criminal cases pending against him, Ramesh was circulating false and fabricated information against police officials, through social, print and electronic media, the Hyderabad police commissioner’s office said in a statement.
