Hyderabad: Couple commits suicide in lodge
Hyderabad: Fearing that their families may not accept their relationship, a couple from the city committed suicide by consuming poison at a lodge in Chandanagar. Their bodies were found on Monday when the lodge management noticed a foul smell from the room.
T. Swarnalatha, 21, an engineering graduate and K. Mohan Naik, 25, a cab driver were in love for some time. They were living at LB Nagar area. On June 8, the woman left her house and did not return. A missing case was registered by the police based on the complaint from her family members.
On Monday, the management of VV Pride Lodge informed the Chandanagar police that a couple who have taken a room on rent were found dead.
The police, upon inspecting the scene, found that the couple had consumed an unidentified poison to kill themselves.
Chandanagar inspector B. Ravinder said “The couple took the room for rent on June 8, saying that they are married, and had also produced their identification cards while taking the room. The family members of Swarnalatha and Naik were aware not about their relationship. But, the couple might have ended their lives suspecting that fearing that their families may not accept their relationship.”
A case of suspicious death has been registered based on a complaint from the maternal uncle of the woman and the bodies were sent for Gandhi Hospital mortuary for the autopsy, said the inspector.
