Vijayawada: Doctor ends life, family alleges murder
VIJAYAWADA: The love story of a physiotherapist ended in a tragic way after she allegedly committed suicide. Sunkara Sushma, 28, married Suneel, 34, around eight years ago after successfully overcoming all societal odds that every inter-caste couple faces. Sushma died under suspicious circumstances on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday reportedly by hanging herself in her apartment at Ashok Nagar. Suneel told the police that by the time he woke up she was seen hanging to the fan.
Sushma fell in love with Suneel when she was studying bachelor of physiotherapy at Apollo College in Hyderabad. Suneel used to run a canteen in the same college. They both were acquainted with each other and eventually fell in love. They got married around eight years ago though Sushma’s parents had not agreed to the marriage. They have a 7-year-old daughter Juvita.Sushma was having a tough time for the last two months as she had to look for a new place for her clinic as the owner of her clinic issued a notice to vacate.
As Suneel was not supportive in finding a place for her clinic, they were having frequent quarrels. In fact, the couple were going through a rough patch in their marital life as Suneel had to change his work frequently and failed to get settled.
Sushma’s mother Rachapalli Gita, in the complaint given to the police, said that Sushma last spoke to her at about 10:30 pm on Wednesday and she was not that weak to commit suicide. She raised doubts that Suneel might have killed her and portraying it as suicide. Patamata police registered a case under suspicious death and under 498A of IPC. The body was sent for post-mortem to ascertain the exact cause of death. The family members of Suneel claimed innocence and alleged that Sushma was having some behavioural issues. Anil, the brother of Suneel, has said that Sushma used to threaten that she would commit suicide for silly reasons.
