Mohammed Fasal murder case: RSS worker claims forced confession
Kannur: Soon after his confessional video of killing NDF worker Mohammed Fasal was leaked, RSS worker E. Subeesh claimed it was made under duress. He alleged his interrogators had tortured him to give a statement against the RSS as per the directions of two DySPs - Sadanandan and Prince Abraham. He told a press conference in Kannur that he was beaten up and deprived of food and water. “I don’t know Fasal. The audiotape which is circulating in my name is also fake. I was asked to give a statement against the RSS so that they would provide a job for my wife. My life was under threat," he said.
"Videos were repeatedly taken, and the prompting by the officers from behind are not shown. The DySPs forced me to give a statement that I killed. I had registered the same before the magistrate in Mattannur also.” He added that a month before he was taken into custody, WhatsApp messages were circulating against him, and a complaint was filed at the Palloor police station.
Earlier, the Kannur police had said that Mr Subeesh made the confession to the 2006 murder when he was interrogated in connection with the murder of CPM leader K. Mohanan near Anjarakandy in October last year. Kannur CPM district secretariat member Karayi Rajan and Thiruvangad local committee secretary Karayi Chandrasekharan were jailed after the CBI named them as accused number 7 and 8 respectively in the Fasal murder case. CPM Kannur district secretary P. Jayarajan said that the audio tape in which he was allegedly heard confessing to another person about the killing should also be checked.
K Surendran seeks to know role of 2 DySps
BJP state general secretary K. Surendran on Saturday came down heavily on Kannur DySP K. Sadanandan and Thalassery DySP Prince Abraham, allegedly for forcing RSS worker E. Subeesh to give a statement that he and three others killed NDF worker Muhammed Fasal. Mr Surendran warned that the cops would lose their power once they were out of service and would be like common-men.
“There is no doubt that the CPM will go to any extent to release Karayi Rajan and Karayi Chandrasekharan. But what is the role of these police officers? Has the Pinarayi government entrusted them with re-investigating the murder case? If the revelations in a case can be used as a statement for another case, the same should be applicable to the Chandrasekharan case, and the Jayakrishnan murder case,” he wrote in his Facebook page.
