Hyderabad: Troubled after her in-laws took away her jewellery for use at a wedding, a 32-year-old woman killed her son and later committed suicide.
Police said that Harsha Bonaria strangled her son with a handkerchief and hanged herself from the ceiling fan. Police recovered a suicide note from the spot.
Police said Mahender and Harsha, of Mordi district in Gujarat, had married nearly six years ago and were living in an apartment in Sri Ganesh Colony under Petbasheerabad Police station limits.
A few months ago, at the time of Mahender’s brother’s marriage, his family had mortgaged her 10 tolas of gold jewellery. The family promised to return the jewellery, but could not, due to which she was under depression, police said.
On Thursday after her husband left for work, she killed her son and committed suicide.
