WARANGAL: The inspector-general of police, multizone-1, suspended Jagtial Rural sub-inspector A. Anil on Thursday on the charges of attacking two women passengers in an RTC bus.
On Wednesday night, police superintendent A. Bhaskar issued orders attaching Anil to the district headquarters on disciplinary grounds.
Earlier in the day, following the instructions of AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi, Nampally MLA Jaffar Hussain Meraj and the district unit president Younus Nadeem visited the house of the postgraduate student involved in the row.
Later, MIM leaders and the mother and daughter went to the SP’s office but could not get an appointment. MLA Hussain asked how a SI and a constable could intercept a bus and abuse the student taking the name of their religion and assault them.
The MLA warned of agitation if the SI and the constable were not suspended immediately.
