Kodiyeri Balakrishnan blames Mahe police for murder

He alleged that a conspiracy was hatched by RSS men at a secret meeting.

MAHE: CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan has blamed the Mahe police for the murder of CPM leader Babu here on Monday night. "The police did not heed the intelligence warnings about a plot to murder Babu. We suspect the murder was executed with the connivance of Mahe police," he told reporters after visiting the house of Babu on Thursday.

He alleged that a conspiracy was hatched by RSS men at a secret meeting. "Such brutal murders are carried out only by trained RSS goons," he said.

"There were many threats against Babu for the last many months. But the police never took them seriously. With all-out police support, RSS goons are ruling the roost in Mahe. All the accused in the murder still stay in Mahe where they are safe," he said.

"Though the Congress is the ruling party, it remains a mute witness to the RSS machinations," he added. He also wanted Puducherry Chief Minister, V Narayanasamy, to take necessary steps to form SIT and ensure a fair probe.

Alleging that the killing was a well planned conspiracy by the RSS, Kodiyeri said it was an attempt to stop the growth of the marxist party in Mahe. Shortly after Babu was killed, in an apparent retaliatory attack, a BJP worker was fatally attacked on May 6 night. The deceased, Babu, who was a local CPI(M) leader and former councillor.
