Hyderabad: 3 illegally draw fuel from tankers, held
Hyderabad: The Special Operation Team of Rachakonda Police nabbed three persons who were stealing fuel from tankers, and seized more than 12,000 litres of fuel from them.
The suspects connived with the drivers of the tankers, who drove the vehicles to a parking yard at Bairamalguda, and stole the fuel. The accused have been identified as Bekani Laxma Reddy, Orsu Raju and M. Srinivas Reddy.
According to the police, Laxma Reddy owns a garage, Sarala Parking Yard, in Bairamalguda under the LB Nagar police station limits. He lured the drivers of oil tankers who supply fuel from Indian Oil Corporation to other parts of the state.
After filling at the plant located at Cherlapally, the drivers used to drive their vehicle to Reddy’s parking yard where the gang drew fuel from the tankers illegally for commission from Reddy who sold it to gullible customers at lower rates.
Based on a tip off, LB Nagar SOT sleuths raided the premises and nabbed Reddy and other two suspects who are drivers. They also seized 12,860 litres of stolen fuel, a tanker, a van, original IOCL invoice and equipment used for drawing fuel from the tanker. The suspects and the seized material were handed over to LB Nagar Police station for further inquiry.
In January, a similar incident occurred at Chengicherla, under the police station limits of Medipally, where an owner of a vehicle repairing shed drew fuel illegally from a tanker and fire broke out, damaging two vehicles and killing a person and two persons were arrested in the incident.
