Hyderabad: 2 nabbed by task force for cricket betting

Officials seized a TV, a mobile with Cricket Exchange' app, 2 more mobiles, and Rs 80,000.

Hyderabad: The West Zone Task Force arrested two persons for organising cricket betting at Narayanguda. Manoj Kumar alias Thothla Manoj, 35, and Vishal Kumar, 29, were accepting cricket bets over cell phones.

Officials seized a TV, a smartphone with ‘Cricket Exchange’ app, two more mobile phones, a calculator and Rs 80,000. DCP, Commissioner’s Task Force, P. Radhakrishna Rao said the duo was collecting bets for two years. “They were collecting and distributing the betting amounts from 30 to 35 punters in the twin cities,” he said.

They were nabbed from Dewdrops Apartments, Street No. 12, Narayanguda, on Wednesday during the IPL cricket match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians. The duo along with the seized items were handed over to the police.
