Kerala rape case: Plea seeks CBI probe into Jisha case

Kochi: Another plea has been filed before Kerala High Court seeking CBI probe into the brutal murder of law student at Perumbavoor. Dravida Samskarika Samrakshana Samiti an organisation for the welfare of Dalits approached the court seeking directives for a CBI inquiry.

Its president Muraleedharan Koncherillam filed the plea arguing that police ignored the provisions of Scheduled Castes/ Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities Amendment Act) 2015 and Criminal Procedure Code while investigating the case.

The petitioner argued that the station house officer of Kuruppampady police station did not maintain or fulfill the conditions of Cr PC and SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act 1989. Though the victim and her mother had approached the police seeking justice, no action was taken.

The women had also filed petitions that they were facing threats to their lives from anti-social elements. However, the the police didn’t take any action, the petitioner submitted. The deliberate and willful negligence of the police officials resulted in the murder of the Dalit girl, the petitioner submitted.
