Karnataka PU paper leak: Kingpin's nephew Kiran alias Kumaraswamy in CID net

With Kiran's arrest, the total number of arrests in the case, including Shivakumaraiah, has gone up to 13.

BENGALURU: The CID sleuths on Tuesday arrested Kiran alias Kumaraswamy, the nephew of second PU chemistry question paper leak kingpin Shivakumaraiah. CID sources confirmed that an investigating team picked up Kiran from a farmhouse near Yelahanka on Tuesday afternoon. With Kiran’s arrest, the total number of arrests in the case, including Shivakumaraiah, has gone up to 13.

Kiran is the son of Shivakumaraiah’s elder brother and hails from Gubbi in Tumakuru. He works as an LIC agent. He was closely involved with Shivakumaraiah in leaking question papers of various exams. He was also arrested by the Tumakuru police in 2013 for a similar offence.

During the interrogation of Shivakumariah, he had reportedly claimed that he had no role in the chemistry paper leak, but it was Kiran who had done it. He had reportedly told the interrogators that there were some differences with Kiran over sharing the money derived out of selling leaked question papers and they had parted ways. However, Kiran had continued the business with the help of his contacts introduced by his uncle.
